BON: Who is Funmi Becca?

FUNMI BECCA: Oh Funmi Becca is me and me is Funmi Becca I graduated from Olabisi Onabanjo University studied Mass Communication.

BON: Can you tell us about your background?

FUNMI BECCA:My father is a retired custom officer and my mum too is also a custom officer but when they got married one step down for one, am from polygamous family my father married to five wives, itis not as if all the five wives were all together in the house it is just like okay may be he got married to one, he got married to my mum and my mum is a legal wife but before my mum’s marriage I think it has something to do with other women outside as a long run that was when my mum discover that he has some other women outside so, that is about that,i am the last born, am the last of my mum with my dad then my mum remarry and gave birth to another lady Lolade to another one,i Am a Christian in my growing up I went to El-shaddai nursery and primary school my secondary school I went to Mercy day high school then my university I went to Olabisi Onabanjo University studied Mass communication so, right from the time I have passion for acting, I have passion for makeup so, so that got me into The Next Movie Star 2011 I went for the reality TV Show any way it gives me my platform before I went for The Next Movie Star I featured in Jenifa by Funke Akindele I play as student in that movie I was part of the student they took to the shrine and they cutoff my head I was one of the character so, I feel like a major but not really major (cut in)like seven scenes and  which was wonderful for me first time for me to play that kind of role and to be in Funke’s production was like a big deal for me so, from there I now realized that okay I can do more let me just go and learn more about acting and let me just gain more of my past so, I went for The Next Movie Star in 2011 even though I was just there, I was so scared of the camera at least with the fact that I went for the reality show I went for series audition which was training which was not easy at all for you to pass that audition at least you get into the house that means yes at least something to work with so, I went there I conquer, I gain my platform and I learn so many things, I conquer so many things face camera, talk to the audience I was a little bit scared I was like hope you are not going to do it right this conscious of doing things in a wrong way but to God be the glory I tried my best but I was evicted last I was part of the first eviction so, that is all about it. When I left The Next Movie Star I started getting offers from people and in 2012 I went for Sisi Oge Beauty Pageant another in house film you have to stay in camp for one month you know I told you back then that I was afraid of camera and everything but I gain my platform but because I have gone through things like that before going to The Next Movie Start 2011 so, this one am going to try my possible best I was the shortest among the tallest contestants but didn’t drag me back I said okay am going to all best to make sure I get to the top but I get there. A lot of people trying to convince me that it is not this it is not that but I tried my best I make sure that all my costume were on point everything was on point but to cut the story short I emerged the Queen second runner up I gave God the glory at least second runner up was something so, from there I worked with Emem Isong that is Cat and Mouse after then I worked with Foluke Daramola Aiyemi and Also Bayo Alawiye.

BON: working with Funke Akindele, how did you feel?

FUNMI BECCA: I feel so great because she’s somebody that I really love to work with, it was like a dream come true woking with Funke Akindele and she’s a very nice person although so many people doesn’t see her like that but to me she’s a good person.

BON: Which movie brought you to the limelight in the industry?

FUNKE BECCA: Obuko was the movie that brought me to the limelight in the industry produced by Bayo Alawiye am forever grateful to him, Obuko was the movie that got me my first nomination with BON in 2013.

BON: Did you study theatre art in school?

FUNMI BECCA: No I didn’t study theater art I studied Mass Communication and you know Mass Communication is like talking, news casting and everything so I think they work together acting although It’s just a natural thing I didn’t go for that.

BON: When did you join the movie industry?

FUNKE BECCA: Let me say I join the movie industry fully in 2008.

BON: What was your parents reaction to your choice of carrier?

FUNMI BECCA: They are indifferent about me they love me so much you know I didn’t allow acting to affect my school as far you go to school you know what you are doing and it’s your passion it’s what you love doing so, they are in full support of anything I want to do in life and as far as am happy with whatever am doing so, they are happy with whatever am doing. My parents are in full support of me.

BON: Can you go nude in a movie?

FUNMI BECCA: Well, well, well I can’t go nude but I can go as far asshowing my bra may be showing back but I can’t go completely nude in a movie because my culture doesn’t allow that and my dad cannot allow that and am a Christian and my religion don’t allow that so, I can’t.

BON: Are you into a relationship?

FUNMI BECCA: Yes am into a relationship yea serious relationship but I don’t want to talk about it.

BON: Who is that person you look up to as a role model?

FUNMI BECCA: My role model is Genevieve Nnaji and Bimbo Akintola those people are wonderful I love the way they act, I love their carriage, and their success in the movie industry. Bimbo Akintola is a genius she’s good at whatever she does and Nnaji she’s just my role model in stature in everything how she does her thing she’s just a goalgetter and also in Yoruba movie industry I like Toyin Aimaku she’s crazy, she’s good in what she does and I like Gabriel Afolayan too as a male, Gabriel Afolayan is a young vibrant talented actor that Nigerian need to focus on.

BON: What really inspired in acting?

FUNMI BECCA: I don’t know but it’s very from childhood when see people acting the way they do things I just believe in myself that I can talk, am funny you know people in my house when am playing with them they say Funmi is like you born actress is like you have it in you just go there you can do it so, since then I have it me that I can act it’s something you love doing and you find out that you can do it so, I just say okay let me try there is no ham in tying.

BON: Have you been sexually harassed in the movie industry?

FUNMI BECCA: Funny question anyway I think any young and beautiful talent in Nigeria they would face one or two, I think it’s our culture in Nigeria movie industry so I don’t think it’s a big deal anymore of course I have and I conquer it’s not a big deal.

BON: What do you do apart from acting?

FUNMI BECCA: What I do apart from acting makeup artist I have passion for it (cut in) I can makeup but I just wake one day apart from acting let me just (cut in) to bring money okay this is my passion and I love it why can’t I change it into money let money be coming in so, that was when I went to train at Mood to enhance my talent and everything so, am a professional makeup artist my makeup name is House of Becca I make people look beautiful I do bridal, musical video and I thank God that House of Becca is going fast and fast with the help of God very soon is going to be over the whole world and I thank God for who I am today.
