It was recently reported by some news outlets that ahead of the June 21st governorship elections in Ekiti State, incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi (APC) and former Governor Ayo Fayose (PDP) decided to show Ekiti state electorates some love by sharing cooked and uncooked rice ahead of the June 21st 2014 Governorship race in the state.

The current Governor and his wife personally handed out plates of jollof rice to elderly citizens of the states, while many other citizens of the state queued up to receive their Fayemi and Fayose branded bags of rice.

In Osun state bags of rice were also handed out by a senator campaigning on behalf of the current Governor who is seeking reelection under the APC umbrella, Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola.

Omotola who last year was named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, took to twitter a few hours ago to criticize the practice. Without naming names it is clear to see that she is referring to the PDP and APC political parties and the Governors, as the rice sharing took place yesterday (June 13, 2014).
