According to several online reports, Pa Francis Oladele, a former newspaper columnist and one of the pioneers of the Nigerian film industry, has passed away.

Pa Oladele passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015, in his Oyo State hometown.

Baba Oladele who was aged 82, produced the first indigenous film in Nigeria, a screen adaptation of Prof. Wole Soyinka‘s play titled Kongi’s Harvest, in 1969.

Also the pioneer African Head of the Film Unit of the defunct Western Nigeria Television in Ibadan, Oladele also worked as a photo-journalist with Daily Times of Nigeria and was popular for his column ‘Social Diary.’
