PIRACY: BUHARI ORDERS SECURITY AGENTS TO SANITIZE NOLLYWOOD

President Muhammadu Buhari has looked the direction of the entertainment industry. The President recently charged the law enforcement agencies to intensify effort in combating the menace of piracy in the entertainment industry, to enable thespians get reward for their diligence and toil.

PMB made allusion to this on Tuesday, July 14, after receiving a briefing from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan.

In a statement released by Femi Adesina, PMB’s Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Buhari said, “Nollywood is making progress. We should work with them. Unless they are backed, they will be ruined by pirates who want to reap where they have not sowed.

 “They have built an industry with their own sweat. It is therefore incumbent on us to give them the necessary support.”

He directed that perpetrators of copyright piracy, their sponsors and collaborators, be fished out and brought to justice.
